Uh-Oh: Tuukka Rask Complains About Playing Time →

Here’s the link and (loosely) translated text of the Tuukka Rask interview with Finnish hockey website Urheilu Lehti (Sports Magazine):

Finnish star in a difficult position in the NHL - I do not want to spend a career on the bench

Tuukka Rask of the Boston Bruins is in a difficult situation. His skills would allow him to already dominate the NHL, but his goaltending partner is two-time Vezina-winner Tim Thomas.

Rask had time to kill in the playoffs. Before last season, he had the number one goalie position, but lost it to an incredible season by Thomas. The Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Award winner currently remains the lead goaltender in Boston. So the Finn’s playing time has been limited.

The truth is that I want to play more. I do not want to spend a whole career sittingon the bench,” Rask said to Sports Magazine.

The situation has been challenging for the Finn. How can he play consistently when he doesn’t get equal playing time?

It feels like no matter how well I play, I’m on the bench in the next game. Even if I get a shutout it’s not enough.

Yikes. Let’s hope that Rask and Thomas sort out their respective media issues soon, because these are the sort of things that can take a slumping team like the Bruins and send them into full-on freefall.
